Where does the micro SD card go?
And, is the connection point at the top of the back for a USB connection?
Any photos/videos showing where the card slot is, and a close up of it so that I can draw it?

The Legend H doesn't have a card slot.
The naming system for the Legend is easy to decode.
H - has the newer High sensitivity receiver that picks up the satellites better.
C - Color display instead of 4 shades of gray
x - eXpanded memory via a micro SD card. The card is on the upper left corner when you take the battery cover off.

Yes, the plug is a USB port. It is used to transfer maps, waypoints, routes, and tracks between the unit and a computer. According to Garmin's page for the unit, it does not come with the Mapsource software for doing that (the higher priced ones come with it). You need the software because the USB units need a driver that comes with the software. All the maps come with the Mapsource software and it is available separately.

It is a group where people discuss various things related to using the etrex family.
I much prefer the HCX versions since the memory for maps can be 2 gig instead of 1/40 gig (24K) and it can record an unlimited number of track points on the card.
The entire road map for the US and Canada takes about 1 gig. 24K will hold less than one typical state.
If you want to record tracks over multiple days without computer access, the recording to the SD card lets you do that.
