Auto Swiss

So I'm flying into Geneva on 29th May and have booked a hirecar with "Auto Europe".
I have read about there being a "Swiss sector" and a "French sector" to the airport and so I am wondering if there is anything special I need to be aware of.
I will be driving south through Switzerland THEN into France.
Given its location on the French border, Geneva International Airport has a so-called "French sector" that enables passengers to enter or to leave France without having to transit via Swiss territory. A visa for Switzerland is therefore not required in this case.
