Is chain mail illegal in the USA?

I sent a chain mail to my cousin and she says that chain mail is illegal in the USA. I'm pretty sure it's not but is it?

If you send it through the U.S. mail . . . YES.

If you send it through email . . . no.

It drives me crazy to get those STUPID emails saying, "Send this to at least ten people in the next ten minutes . . . or something BAD will happen to you."

Those often come at WORK, with graphics . . . which clogs the servers at work with non-work-related GARBAGE (I worded that politely).

Just hit delete . . . .
