Basically what happened is there is a steel piece up above the blade that broke off and now the self propelled mower won't engage, you can push it and it works but it will not go by itself. Need the replacement part but I can not find it anywhere on the web. The lawn mower is 2nd hand so has no manuals.
Look for a brand name of the Engine itself. We had one that was a Tecumseh. Once you know that then locally a lawnmower repair shop can help you with things. Or you can order them on line, I have seen places like http://www.rcpw.com/ or http://www.jackssmallengines.com as a couple example that will sell you parts on line.
