I do not want to replace with new glass. The old glass is the wavy old glass.
It can be remedied. Get some wide masking tape. 1" will do. Mask around the exposed hole from the inside but leave a space of 1/8" between the hole edge and the tape. Place some tape over the hole from the rear. Using a small amount of clear silicone adhesive fill the hole and smooth over with a putty knife (do this from the inside) of course. Make sure you get some of the adhesive on the exposed area (1/8") around the hole so the adhesive will have something to stick to. You have to pull the tape off slowly and b4 the silicone dries. I use a clear silicone adhesive called GOOP because it comes in squeezable tubes and fits in my tool-box. When it dries you won't notice it is there if you did the job right. If it is messy and looks bad you can remove the adhesive with Goof-Off and start over. Good luck!
