Display Clock

Page 29 of the manual says to press CLOCK to turn the clock display on or off. I want the clock to appear in the upper left hand corner of the display instead of TUNER or AUX. When I turn the HU off and press and hold the multi-control button, I can get to the display to set the clock, but this function doesn't appear to control whether it appears in the upper left corner or on the display panel when the HU is off. Any ideas?
If the time isn't set on the deck it won't appear until you set it.
