Broken fibula recovery time?

I was unfortunantly hit by a car while crossing the street. Hit and run. Fractured my Fibula about 4 inches down from my knee. I went to the doctor today and he said toe touch weight bearing with crutches to the left leg. Left ankle is severley sprained. I was put in an immbolizer walking boot and crutches.Has anybody had experience with this type of fracture? What was your weight bearing status? When will the pain go away? When will I be able to walk again without any boot or crutches? Help! I am only 26 newly wed and off of work now for 6 weeks. I am getting really depressed of having to depend on my husband for so much.

ive been told for fractures, especially mine, thaty it normally takes 6-8 weeks to recover, though i havent recovered from mine (compression fracture) and its been 8 months....just keep ya head up, stay off it as much as possible
