Due to marine life - e.g. mollusc's - and other factors like corrosion, ship builders put thin metal sheets on the hull (underwater part) of ships. Which metal would be the best? Why?
I've had to perform an experiment where I reacted 6 different metals with NaCl and water - the metals were Copper, Magnesium, Steel, Tin, Aluminum and Zinc. I did the same reaction and added universal indicator. How can I judge which one would be the best metal for the ship's hull? :S
Visual inspection. I can tell you that the best metal is Copper. Look to see which metal is the least corroded after say a week.
