How can I make a history essay really original and interesting?

I need to write an essay on the main historical events between the 16th century and the 20th century( the american revolution, the french revolution, year 1848 in Europe are just a few examples). I have the information, I've done the research but it's just something really dull, I need to find a way to make it original and interesting. It's history and it can't be something really artistic. The essay is 5-6 pages single spaced and I need to find a way ti make it appealing to the reader.
Please help.It's really a very important paper.

With dull material, represent it in a more exciting way - represent the American Revolution as a self styled,elitist,self righteous group of greedy,ungrateful colonists out to grab power for themselves.The same with the French middle classes in the French Revolution, and the European middle classes in 1848.

I once had to teach a uni course on the English Reformation, one of the dullest topics out there, so I represented it as the product of a ruthless tyrant who wanted to dump his wife so he could marry a much younger and attractive girl with whom he was enamoured, and grab the wealth of the Catholic Church in England at the same time.Both I and the students found this approach much more interesting and exciting.
