Ball Lightening Manifestation?

I am a member of the Long Island Society for Paranormal Research (www.lispr.com) and I need some information about Ball Lightening.

I suppose you have read the wikipedia about it:

As you understand, no one can give a good scientific explanation about it and neither can I since I have never seen it.

But my mother has, and that was in the 1920s when she was a child. Her own account of it is that it entered the room through the chimney, stayed for a short while in the middle of the room, then disappeared.

My mother, who was a devoted Catholic and had no scientific knowledge, wasn't lying: She saw something. But what was it?

Not so long ago, St Elms fire were also reported by seafarers and many doubted it existed. Yet, today science has explained the polarisation of the air in the extreme conditions of a thunderstorm. Perhaps ball lightning are associated with it too.

Here is another strange paranormal phenomenon that might interest you: Some radio amateurs have reported hearing their own voice up to one minute after they stop talking. Where did the radio signal go during that time, knowing that it travels at the speed of light, i.e. three times around the earth in one second?

The most unlikely explanation is that it is caught by a UFO circling in our solar system, then sent back to us. The most likely explanation is that, by some weird effect, it gets caught between different layers of the ionosphere and after having done perhaps several hundred revolutions around the earth, "falls back" to our receivers. Strange, isn't it? Having been a ham myself for years, the "weirdest" thing I have experienced is the echo effect from hearing a signal that reaches me from both sides of the earth (great circle) but never the above. It is very, very seldom experienced but I have no reason to believe those hams are inventing it either. I think it is true but we still don't know how it works.
